Basically if DPM is warning you then it's best to increase the space in small increments 'till it's all happy again. Unfortunately there's no easy or right answer - it is all a bit trial and error to get the allocation pools for each protection group to the right size for your organisation. One way to predict that may help is to use DPM 's reports feature. These parameters are for the Storage Pool summary for all protected computers - and it can do it for a day or several weeks.
Lower on the first page, the report will show you a breakdown of Disk Allocation and Disk Used for each protected computer. On later pages, the report drills down into each Protection Group and each replica within it. You may be able to use this report to gain an insight into how your space is allocated and used and then use the Calculate feature to manually adjust your allocation.

I have a pg with sync frequenzy of 15 minutes and recovery point creation on and and express full backup at How can I restore data from ? If I create a recovery point by gui, it creates it from the last sync.
Is it possible to create custom recovery points by script? If you need to restore data from frequently, you should modify your PG and add a recovery point for this time. I ask because I have 15 minutes synchronization backups that I can pick when recovering in that case.
Why is it diferente for SQL? Doesn't it have the same VSS limitations mentioned above? Or is it backing up logs only?
