For example If there is only one person in a class would they automatically get the blue even if their score was low? Or do certain scores get certain color ribbons? If there is just one person in a class, they will still get a 1st place ribbon, even if they had a low score unless, of course, they were eliminated for any reason.
On the flip side, you could get a really high score, but you may still not get a ribbon if there were other people who scored higher than you. Sometimes, organisers will put restrictions on prize money for example, they may need to receive over a certain number of entrants in order to award prize money to the winners or they may restrict how many ribbons they give out for example, if the class has 5 entrants they may only award a 1st place ribbon to the highest scorer, but if the class had 20 entrants they might award ribbons 1st-5th for the five highest scorers.
